Type locality: Kalpakkam, 12°33'N, 80°11'E [1], Tamil Nadu, India.
Etymology: The species name is derived from the acronym of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, where it was first collected and in recognition of the contribution of IGCAR to marine environmental studies and support for ongoing ichthyological research on the Tamil Nadu coast of India.
