Scolecenchelys fuscogularis Hibino, Kai & Kimura, 2013

Type locality: Ryokuyomaru, off Honjo, Kyotango, Kyoto Pref., Japan (the Sea of Japan), depth 90–100 m.

Etymology: The specific name is derived from the Latin fusco (= dark) and gularis (= throat), referring to the dark branchial basket of the species.
