Type locality: China, Yunnan, Cangyuan County, Mengnonghe River, a tributary of the Nangunhe River (Salween drainage) at Banlao Village, 23°30'08.9"N, 99°01'42.9"E, altitude 510 m.

Etymology: From the Latin adjectives prolixus, meaning broad, stretched far out, and fasciatus, meaning banded, allusion to the broad bands on the body. An adjective.
