- Holotype: ZSM 470/2006 (ZCMV 886), adult ♂, collected by Frank Glaw, Roger Daniel Randrianiaina and Miguel Vences on 22 February 2005.
- Type locality: “Nosy Mangabe island (15°30′ S, 49°46′ E, ca. 50–100 m above sea level), off the north east coast of Madagascar next to the town of Maroantsetra”.
