Pterophocaena nishinoi Murakami, Shimada, Hikida & Hirano, 2012: 1158

Type locality: "collected as a calcareous concretionary float in a small tributary valley of the Teshio River in Homare 2 District, Nakagawa, Hokkaido, Japan".

Holotype: NMV-7 [Nakagawa Museum of Natural History, Hokkaido]

Eponymy: Takanobu Nishino, "who collected the holotype" [Murakami, Shimada, Hikida & Hirano, 2012: 1158]
