Pteragogus variabilis Randall, 2013

  • Holotype: BPBM 22926.
  • Paratypes: BPBM 16331 (1); SAIAB 55132 (1); USNM 361253 (1), 361251 (5), 307218 (3), 361252 (2).

Type locality: Mauritius, reef about 1.5 miles N of Flic en Flac [1], 15 m depth.

Etymology: The specifies was named variabilis for the great variation in color, not only as shown in color photographs of different fish, but in the same individual.
