Type locality: sago swamp on northern side of Cross Levee Road, 4° 40.669'S, 136° 57.046'E, Mimika District, vicinity of Timika, Papua Province, Indonesia.

Etymology: named luminatus (Latin: light up) with reference to the bright colours exhibited by adult males.
