Type locality: "a ravine in the cloud forest on the northeastern slope of the Sierra de Juárez, near latitude 17° 48´ N., longitude 96° 20´ W., in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, about 58 kilometers south of Valle Nacional on the road between Ixtlán de Juárez and Túxtepec".
Holotype: AMNH 74403.
