Type locality: Ross Sea, 72°41'S, 176°55' – 176°34'E [1], 1623 – 1422 m depth.
Etymology: The species is named in honor of Dmitry Sergeevich Pavlov – a leader of Russian ichthyologists and outstanding organizer of academic science in connection with the 75th anniversary of his birth.
