• Holotype: NIWA H-807 (field nº NIWA MKB 1519a), collected by National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Limited (NIWA) research vessel "Tangaroa" on 25 July 1975.
• Type locality: “NZOI Stn 197 DR, Wanganella Bank, West Norfolk Ridge, 32°22.9–23.3’S, 167°28.2’E, 544–540 metres”.
