Type locality: Brazil, Minas Gerais, Pedra Azul, 700 m.

Holotype: MNRJ. male. XI. 1972. leg. Seabra & Oliveira.

Etymology

In homage, posthumously, to J. Melzer, for starting the study of Neotropical Cerambycidae.
