  • Type locality: India: Manipur: Ukhrul district: Phungrei, Changa River (the Chindwin drainage); 25°12'26"N, 94°31'35"E. [1]
  • Holotype: MUMF 11051
  • Paratypes: MUMF 11050, 11052–11053

Etymology: From the Latin tigris (= tiger). The species is named for the tiger-like bars on the body.
