Photonectes klepadloae Prokofiev & Frable, 2021

Type locality: central north Pacific Ocean, Hawaiian Islands, off Oahu, 21°20′00″N, 158°20′00″W, 660–805 m, Teuthis Cruise V, sta. 30, 10 ft opening-closing trawl.

Etymology: Named in honor of Cynthia Klepadlo (1945–2020), former collection manager of the Marine Vertebrates Collection at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla, California, USA. She was an expert in midwater fishes, specializing in myctophids and stomiiforms with a particular interest in the genus Photonectes. She contributed to the descriptions of seven species of Photonectes—25% of the known species.
