Persephonichthys Pardo et al., 2014

Etymology: From Persephone, a Greek goddess whose annual descent and re-emergence from the underworld is associated with the change of seasons, in reference to the seasonal aestivation burrows that fossils of this species are found in, and ichthys, meaning fish.
