- Holotype: MCP 48861.
- Paratypes: AMNH 263728 (2), MCP 48614 (11), 48862 (4 + 1 c&s), 48863 (7 + 2 c&s), 48864 (2); MNRJ 43574 (2).
Type locality: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Maquiné, Barra do Ouro, Arroio Garapiá upstream the Garapiá waterfall, 29°30’05.2”S 50°13’15.8”W.
Etymology: named after the stream where it occurs and the waterfall which marks the known limit of its distribution.
