Type locality: China: Yunnan: Luoping County: Luoxiong Town: outlet of a subterranean river in a cave (24°50'35" N 104°23'12" E), draining to Nanpanjiang River.

Etymology: The specific name translucens comes from the Latin adjective meaning translucent, referring to the species appearance when alive.
