- Holotype: ZSM, ♂, 13-17.viii.1992, leg. A.Riedel.
- Etymology: This epithet is based on the Latin adjective robustus,-a,-um (= stout) and refers to the species body-size and gestalt. O. robusta together with O. paniaiensis is the largest species of the group treated here and currently of the tribe Ottistirini as well.
