Type locality: Indonesia, Papua, Oranje-Mts., Eipomek-Langda, 3500 m.
Holotype: ZSM, ♂, 23-24.viii.1992, leg. A.Riedel.
Etymology: This epithet is based on the Latin verb ascendere (= to climb up) and refers to its occurrence in a subalpine habitat at an altitude of 3500 m.
