Holotype: MZB 20780. Paratypes: MZB 20781 (1); ZFMK 44938 (1), 44939 (1); USNM 406817 (1), 406818 (1).
Type locality: Indonesia, Sulawesi, South Sulawesi Province, Tana Toraja, Salo Sadang drainage, stream close by the village Tilanga, about 8 km S of Rantepao; 3°02.126S, 119°53.232E, elev. 859 m.[1]
Etymology: The specific name eversi honours Hans-Georg Evers who discovered this endemic ricefish while travelling to explore fishes and habitats in Sulawesi.
