Type locality: Challenger station 344, off Ascension Island. Depth 430 fms.
Syntypes: BMNH; MCZ:IZ:OPH-1942 [1].
Note: Synonymised by Martynov & Litvinova (2008: 91) with Ophiacantha anomala G.O. Sars, 1871, and removed from synonymy by O’Hara & Thuy (2022: 18).
