- Type species: Raja fusca Garman, 1885 (Synonym of Raja kenojei Müller & Henle, 1841)
Etymology: Okame, Japanese vernacular for “female with low-nose,” presumably referring to its relatively shorter snout; jei, Japanese for skate and ray.
