- Type locality: SOUTH AFRICA, [Western Cape]: Langeberge, Boesmansbos, 1050 m, 33.56S–20.58E, sifted forest litter.
- Holotype: DNMNH # 1560, ♂, 7.iii.1979, Endrödy-Younga.
- Etymology: Named after the eyes, which are reduced to one ommatidium (Lat. unocellus = one eye).
