- Type locality: SOUTH AFRICA, [Western Cape]: S. Cape, Mt. Grootberg W 1450 m, 33.55S–20.51E, sifting fynbos litter.
- Holotype: DNMNH # 1500, ♂, 1.xi.1978, Endrödy-Younga.
- Etymology: Owing to the striking similarity in habitus to O. tibialis (Kistner) the new species is named ‘a mimic’ (= Lat. mimus).
