• Holotype: BMNH, collected by H.M.S. Challenger Expedition on 24 July 1874.
• Type locality: “Station 173, off Matuka, Fiji Islands; lat. 19°9'35" S., long. 179°41'50" E.; depth, 315 fathoms”.
