Neofundulus splendidus Nielsen & Brousseau, 2013

  • Holotype: MNKP 11205.
  • Paratypes: MNKP 11206 (5, 6); ZUEC 7303 (1, 1).

Type locality: Bolivia, road San Miguel to San Juan, Departamento Santa Cruz, San Miguel city, río San Miguel, río Mamoré basin, 16°46’22.0”S, 61°11’12.6”W [1], altitude 440 m.

Etymology: The specific epithet splendidus is the Latin word for bright or shining. It was given in reference to the exuberant colors of the male.
