- Type locality: GREECE: Crete, Orno Thriptis, E Thripti, 35°05′34″N, 25°52′41″E, 970 m.
- Holotype: Volker Assing private collection, ♂, 10.IV.2014, V. ASSING.
- Etymology: The specific epithet (adjective) is derived from Orno Thriptis, the name of the mountain where the species was discovered and where it appears to be endemic.
