  • Paratypes: BPBM 41246 [ex CAS 237352] (10); CAS 237352 (4); HUJ 9985 (3); SMF 24818 (6); USNM 221124 (1).

Type locality: Red Sea, Sudan, Sanganeb Atoll (19°39'N; 37°14'E).

Etymology: named in reference to the yellow color of the caudal fin, in contrast to the whitish gray color of the caudal fin of M. f. flavolineatus.
