  • Paratypes: NTOUP 2012-03-129 (3), 2013-10-107 (3).

Type locality: estuary of Zhuan River, Toucheng Township, Yilan County, Taiwan.

Etymology: flavomaculatus from flavus (= yellow) and maculata (= spot), refers to its diagnostic coloration on cheek and operculum: the presence of 5-7 rounded, bright yellow spots.
