Type locality: Kiéne Creek, 1°32'14.1"S, 13°32'43.5"E [1], Motobo I village, Haut-Ogooué Province, Gabon.
Etymology: The specific name is from the Latin emarginatus (= notched at the apex), in reference to the distinctive shape of the caudal fin.
