Type locality: Brazil, Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Águas Claras river, tributary of São João river, 29 km northwest from Silva Jardim municipality, 22°31'38.92"S, 42°32'37.82"W [1], altitude 200 m.
Etymology: The specific name is a combination from the Latin plerique, meaning mostly, and from the Latin ater, meaning black. It refers to the coloration of the species.
