- Type locality: MADAGASCAR: Fianarantsoa, Vevembe, 22°47.46’ S, 47°10.91’ E, 600 m, rainforest transition to montane forest.
- Etymology: The name is Latin for “forester”, as this species is unique in the Malagasy Meranoplus fauna for its restriction to rainforest habitat.
