Name

Megadontomys cryophilus (Musser, 1964)

• Holotype: UMMZ 112872, adult ♂, skin, skeleton and glans penis, collected by Guy G. Musser on 8 August 1963.
• Type locality: “México, Oaxaca, Distrito de Ixtlán, Sierra de Juárez, 13 mi. (on Tuxtepec-Oaxaca de Jurirez road) NE Llano de lau Flores on upper slopes of Cerlo Pelon, 9200 feet [=2804 m] elevation”.

Combinations

• Peromyscus (Megadontomys) thomasi cryophilus Musser, 1964: 13 [original combination, as subspecies]
• Megadontomys cryophilus: Carleton, 1989: 37, 104 [subsequent combination, elevated to species]

Native distribution areas

• Mexico: Oaxaca.
