- Paratypes (23): NMNZ S.52736 (7), S.52737 (7), S.52738 (6), S.52739 (3).
- Type locality: Home Hills Station, Manuherikia River near St Bathans, Otago.
- Type horizon: HH1a bed, Bannockburn Formation, early Miocene.
Etymology: From Latin procerus (= high−bodied), referring to the highbodied shape of the otolith.
