Type locality: "Ton Nam Plu Waterfall, Khao Chong, Trang Province, Thailand (7° 34´ N, 99° 49´ E, alt. 260 m)".
Holotype: NHMT A 001.
Etymology: Species is named in appreciation after Malcolm Arthur Smith, one of the early herpetologists to study the amphibians of Thailand.
