Holotype: LACM 35772-1 [ex UCR 328-3]. Paratypes: GCRL 13965 (6); UCR 328-3 (4), 682-3 (1); UF 232229 [ex UMML 32229] (1), 232882 [ex UMML 32882] (1); UP 807 (2).

Type locality: 10 miles southwest of Isla del Caño, Costa Rica, depth 142 meters.[1]
