Holotype: UF 182220. Paratypes: UAIC 10889.50 (1); KU 34001 (1); UF Uncat. (1), 38459 (1), 233173 (2).

Type locality: Caribbean Sea, Grenada, off Halifax Harbor in 125 m depth, 12°06.61′N, 61°45.91′W, Harbor Branch Dive 1782.[1]

Etymology: Species name is dedicated to R. Grant Gilmore, who has helped the first author in so many ways. Two of the specimens including the holotype, were collected from the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution’s submersibles, dives participated in by both Gilmore and the first author.
