Type locality: Atlantic Ocean, 04°52′N, 51°49′W, 37 m depth, OREGON sta.17620-21.[1]

Etymology: Species is dedicated to Bruce B. Collette who made special efforts to collect cusk-eels for the senior author and who collected most of the material of this species.
