Type locality: Guyana, Zone 7, Essequibo River system, Mazaruni River drainage Waruma Creek at campsite, 5°28'40.3"N, 60°46'45.3"W [1].
Etymology: The specific epithet is in honor of Carlos Ardila Rodríguez for his numerous contributions to the systematics of the Lebiasininae.
