- Lectotype: USNM 131737 (old catalog number 1852 or 1853), adult ♂, collected by Capt. Marcy. [designated by Blanchard (1921: 165).
- Type locality: “Red River, Ark.” and “Prairie Mer Rouge, La.”, restricted by lectotype designation to “North Fork, Red River, near Sweetwater Creek, Wheeler County, Texas” by Blanchard (1921: 165).
