- Holotype (unique): BMNH 1908.11.6.23.
Type locality: Zambesi River above Victoria Falls [Zambia/Zimbabwe].
Etymology: in honor of Thomas Codrington, who, while visting his son, Robert Codrington, Administrator of N.W. Rhodesia, “availed himself of the exceptional facilities afforded him to make a very valuable collection of the fishes, which he has presented to the British Museum”. (From The ETYFish project)
