Kenyaichthys kipkechi Altner & Reichenbacher, 2015

Holotype: Museum in Kipsaraman, Kenya: 1209a/b´05. Paratypes: 76 specimen. In addition, 92 further specimens are tentatively assigned as †K. cf. kipkechi because of incomplete or fragmentary preservation.

Type locality: Tugen Hills, Inoswa Kamelon (72 specimens) and Koibochepkweny (5 specimens), Lukeino Formation, Kenya (Late Miocene (about 5.7–6 Ma)).

Etymology: Species name kipkechi named for Joseph Kipkech, Kenya, in recognition of his long-time devoted commitment to the development of education and science in Baringo County.
