  • Holotype: PNM 15192.
  • Paratypes: ASIZP 68318 (2); CAS 236504 (2), 236506 (12); SAIAB 200712 (2); USNM 435707 (2).

Type locality: Philippines, Luzon, Aurora Province, west of Cape San Ildefonso, 16.0445°N, 121.922°E, 194–203 m depth.

Etymology: named erythrophthalma from the Greek for red (eruthros), and eye (ophthalmos).
