- Holotype: IBSP Ref. 74.595, ♀; R. Bertani, November 1994.
- Type locality: Brazil, state of Piauí, Parnaíba [2°53'S, 41°41'W], 5 m a.s.l.
- Etymology: The specific name is a patronym in honour of Professor Sérgio Antonio Vanin, a Brazilian entomologist. As advisor of some arachnologists, the author included, he contributed to the development of modern Brazilian arachnology.
