Holotype: ANSP 174721. Paratypes: ANSP 57257 (31), 59292 (9), 89590 (73); NRM 35641-42 (6, 4).
Type locality: Nam Mae Taeng River, tributary of Mae Nam Ping River, about 56 kilometers north of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Etymology: maetaengensis: Named after the Mae Taeng river.
