  • Holotype: UFRJ 6864.
  • Paratypes: UFRJ 6855 (1,2), 6854 (1,2), 6827 (0,2).

Type locality: Brazil, Estado do Bahia, Município de Itaguaçu da Bahia, seasonal pool in the floodplains of the lower Verde River, a right tributary of the middle São Francisco River, about 30 km N of the town Itaguaçu, 10°43'20"S, 42°20'30"W [1], 414 m a.s.l.

Etymology: The specific name is from the Latin caeruleus (= blue), referring to the main colour in males of this species.
