Holotype: MSUMNH 94. Paratypes: ZSI/SRC F. 8750 (2), F. 8759 (1); CMA 44 (4).
Type locality: Thunga River, 13°55’213"N, 75°26’426"E.
Etymology: The name pseudomussullah is referring to the false or pseudo- similarity to the species that it most resembles Hypselobarbus mussullah.
