Hypoatherina macrophthalma Sasaki & Kimura, 2012

Holotype: URM-P 46882 (removed from URM-P 23004; deposited at Ocean Expo. Research Center).

Paratypes (32): Deposited at CAS, URM-P.

Type locality: Nuguria lagoon, Papua New Guinea.[1]

Etymology: The specific name macrophthalma is derived from the Greek meaning (= large eye), in reference to large eyes of this species.
