Holotype: CZUT-IC 11769. Paratypes: numerous.
Type locality: Colombia, Tolima department: Natagaima County, upper Magdalena River drainage, Laguna Saldañita, 03°30’83’’N, 75°09’30’’W, 390 m a.s.l.
Etymology: The specific name natagaima is in reference to the Amerindian people who have inhabited the region where this species was found. The legend relates that a chief Nataga and a princess Aima were married to originate the tribe.
