Type locality: “Rio Grande; Sonora”, restricted by lectotype designation to “Matamoras, Mexico” (in error); “Sonora” corrected to “south of the Gila River in Santa Cruz or Cochise Co., SE Arizona, USA”, fide Bogert (1939: 198-199), Stejneger (1940: 204) and Stickel (1943: 120).
