Holotype: BPBM 34458. [Paratypes: BMNH 1994.4.11.1-2 (2); BPBM 33321 (2), 34476 (1), 34483 (2), 34487 (1), 36312 (6); CAS 81378 (3); MTUF P-20527 (1); SMF 27032 (3); USNM 329426 (2)].

Type locality: South end of Goat Island (Jazirat al-Ghanam), Musandam, Persian Gulf, Oman, 26°20'22"N, 56°20'48"E, depth 12-15 meters.
